About The Position

Join Oncology Consultants as a Full-Time APP Hospitalist! This role focuses on providing comprehensive inpatient support for oncology patients. You will be responsible for conducting hospital rounds, assisting with admissions and discharges, and providing on-call support. A key aspect of this position involves assessing patients' physical and mental conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and making therapeutic recommendations. You will also be responsible for documenting patient treatment plans and outcomes, initiating consultations and referrals when necessary, and capturing charges accurately and in a timely manner. Effective communication with admitting and referring teams, as well as timely response to all forms of communication, is essential. This role also includes performing other assigned duties and projects.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program
  • Master’s degree required
  • APRN or PA license in appropriate state
  • Prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
  • Maintain Board Certification
  • Current BLS
  • Minimum 5 years experience as APRN or PA, Oncology required
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hospital rounds.
  • Assist with admissions and discharges.
  • Provide on-call support.
  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining a comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment.
  • Refer patient to appropriate sources of care as clinically indicated.
  • Counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds the scope of practice and /or expertise.
  • Capture charges in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with admitting and referring team.
  • Triage and respond to all forms of communication in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
