About The Position

Amivero is seeking an API Platform Engineer to design and build high-performance APIs and data ingestion pipelines for mission-critical applications supporting national security operations. The systems must operate reliably at scale, integrate with external data sources, and run in AWS GovCloud environments. The engineer will work with business analysts, engineers, data specialists, mission stakeholders, and third-party counterparts to enable secure, real-time access to critical data. The role focuses on well-architected REST APIs, resilient ingestion pipelines, cloud-native integrations, and high-performance relational data systems. It also includes improving reliability, observability, performance, and stability; troubleshooting production issues; documenting APIs; and helping shape platform architecture and engineering practices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
4 or more years of experience building production software systems.
Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs or microservices.
Experience working in AWS cloud environments and building cloud-native services.
Experience with AWS S3 and cloud-based storage architectures.
Strong experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
Proficiency in Python or similar backend programming languages.
Experience designing data ingestion pipelines or integration systems.
Experience with event streaming or data routing tools such as Kafka, NiFi, Confluent, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and performance tradeoffs.
Experience troubleshooting complex systems in production environments.
Ability to design systems with security, scalability, and maintainability in mind.
U.S. citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

Active DHS Public Trust is preferred.
Experience working within AWS GovCloud or other regulated environments is highly valued.

Responsibilities

Design and implement well-architected REST APIs for mission applications.
Build resilient data ingestion pipelines across distributed systems and process large volumes of operational data.
Develop cloud-native integrations using AWS services such as S3, Lambda, and API Gateway, including event-driven architectures.
Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries for high-performance workloads.
Solve data integration challenges across systems and formats.
Improve reliability, observability, and performance across APIs and ingestion services.
Collaborate with engineers and architects to evolve system architecture and platform capabilities.
Troubleshoot production issues and improve system stability and efficiency.
Write clear, maintainable code and well-documented APIs.
Help drive engineering best practices across the team.
