About The Position

CGI is hiring a hands-on Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, test, and support highly scalable enterprise services and APIs. The role focuses on Java and Spring engineering, cloud-based solutions, API design and lifecycle management, automated testing, and supporting high-transaction production applications. The position is full-time and on-site in the Dallas, Texas, or Cary, North Carolina area. The engineer will contribute to engineering excellence by participating in code reviews, improving processes and technology, troubleshooting production and non-production issues, and mentoring team members. The role also involves supporting CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments, contributing to SQL/PLSQL work, and ensuring applications meet scalability, availability, monitoring, and performance needs.

Requirements

At least 8 years of hands-on software development experience.
Hands-on experience with SQL/PLSQL.
Strong development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Extensive experience designing and developing REST APIs.
Experience with domain-driven API design, Swagger/OpenAPI, and API lifecycle management.
Experience with AWS or other cloud technologies.
Experience with JUnit, REST Assured, or similar testing frameworks; Cucumber is preferred.
Experience with Jenkins, Maven, Docker, and Git-based development environments.
Experience supporting high-volume production applications.
Strong understanding of scalability, availability, monitoring, and application performance.
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Splunk or similar monitoring/log aggregation platforms.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Experience with Angular 15 or later.
Experience with Cucumber.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable REST APIs and enterprise services.
Develop solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Core, and Web Services.
Contribute to domain-driven API design and API lifecycle management.
Develop and maintain solutions deployed in AWS cloud environments.
Implement automated unit and integration testing using modern testing frameworks.
Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized application deployment.
Design and support high-transaction production applications, focusing on scalability, availability, monitoring, and performance.
Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
Contribute to SQL/PLSQL.
Troubleshoot complex production and non-production issues.
Lead process and technology improvement initiatives.
Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence.
