About The Position

Independent Management Services is hiring an Apartment Maintenance Technician for Mari Dan Miller Farms in Swartz Creek, Michigan. The role supports the maintenance and upkeep of the property, including resident service requests, preventive maintenance, vacant-unit reconditioning, grounds care, and snow removal. The technician performs after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call duties in rotation with other maintenance personnel and responds to resident requests to provide 24-hour emergency service. The position reports directly to the Site Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor and includes participation in ongoing maintenance education and training.

Requirements

• Customer-service orientation.
• Working knowledge of basic maintenance concepts, including plumbing and repair.
• Must have own tools to perform job tasks.
• Basic knowledge of commercial or small grounds equipment and supplies.
• Ability to prioritize work orders and projects based on need.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident service requests and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Recondition vacant units in a timely manner, including painting, basic repairs, and cleaning.
• Keep property grounds well-groomed and free of litter, unsightly garbage, clutter, weeds, and overgrown vegetation.
• Perform after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call duties in rotation with other maintenance personnel.
• Respond to resident requests to ensure 24-hour emergency service.
• Monitor inventory and maintenance supplies as necessary.
• Remove snow, including salting main roads, walkways, and parking areas throughout the community, where applicable.
• Create and maintain a well-groomed community appearance.
• Participate in ongoing maintenance education and training.
