About The Position

The Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (HACS) provides quality affordable housing to low-income families and individuals through the effective and efficient administration of housing assistance programs. This role involves responding to maintenance requests, performing general maintenance, preparing vacant units, maintaining grounds, ensuring safety compliance, and managing work orders.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in apartment, residential, or commercial maintenance
• Practical experience in carpentry, painting, and general building repairs
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs in residential units and common areas.
• Perform general maintenance, including carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, appliance, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance and inspections to identify and address issues proactively.
• Prepare vacant units for occupancy.
• Maintain grounds, landscaping, and common areas, including seasonal cleanup.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and report/correct hazards.
• Maintain work orders, maintenance records, and inventory of tools and supplies.
• Provide professional customer service and respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed.
