About The Position

Love Justice International (LJI) is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to combating human trafficking by disrupting it in transit. They are seeking mission-driven problem-solvers to join their team. This role is not just a job but a calling for those drawn to work that demands sacrifice, boldness, and faith. LJI has been recognized for its organizational health and operates as an "Impact Engineering" organization, using scientific and business principles combined with local insights to maximize real-world outcomes. They intercept potential trafficking victims efficiently, creating a ripple effect to prevent further enslavement. The Anti-Trafficking Software Developer Fellowship is a full-time, one-year fellowship based in South Africa, reporting to the Chief of Staff. The role involves accelerating the expansion and evolution of their software, Searchlight, by developing new features to enhance data collection, intelligence-led investigations, and trend analysis, directly supporting efforts to prevent trafficking, increase arrests, and scale impact globally. Occasional travel to LJI’s field offices may be required.

Requirements

• Mature Christian faith and agreement with LJI's Global Value to “Abide in Christ”.
• Knowledge, understanding, and agreement with how the Christian Gospel ministers to “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and guides LJI's mission.
• Agreement with LJI's Core Value “Be the Kingdom” (in mission execution and personal conduct).
• Acknowledgment of LJI's Statement of Faith.
• Passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with full-stack development (preferably Django and AngularJS or similar frameworks).
• Strong problem-solving, logical reasoning, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with teams and training end users.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve your own work—drafting, research, analysis, and redesigning workflows—with the discernment to verify outputs, catch errors, and recognize where AI is not appropriate. Staff use AI within the boundaries of LJI's AI Tool Usage Policy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in software development management is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and expand Searchlight, developing new features to improve intelligence gathering and trend analysis.
• Optimize data collection across multiple operational contexts and design user-friendly interfaces for data visualization.
• Support tech-related projects, including automation and API integrations for LJI’s extensive use of Google Sheets and other platforms.
• Contribute to innovation efforts, working on projects that increase LJI’s ability to scale its anti-trafficking impact.
• Build and maintain a team of financial supporters through regular communication and updates.
