About The Position

This position is Accountable for assisting in the development and monitoring of the District 6 Annual and Multi Year Highway Improvement Programs, with a primary emphasis on the Annual Program. The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire an Annual Program Coordinator. Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of roadway and bridge design components.
  • Knowledge of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) overall program development and specific project planning and design processes.
  • Ability to use database and spreadsheet computer applications, including data entry, data organization, and report development.
  • Ability to manage workflow to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with both district and IDOT central office staff.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the District 6 staff, Office of Planning and Programming, and the Bureau of Operations to develop and deliver the projects in the Statewide Annual Line Items.
  • Assists in preparation of program revisions, program carryovers, and letting coordination.
  • Prepares reports and spreadsheets for the Annual Program monitoring and accomplishments.
  • Analyzes and develops recommendations to upper management for resolving funding and project implementation issues for the Statewide Annual Maintenance Programs.
  • Reviews Programming guidelines and coordinates with the district and the Bureaus of Planning and Programming staff on proposals.
  • Assists with the development of the Multi-year Program and scoping activities.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
  • Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
