About The Position

Daemen University is seeking an Animation History Adjunct instructor to teach two courses on the history of animation. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of animation history and its key figures. The courses will cover the context, culture, and technology of animation, exploring its practitioners, development, aesthetic qualities, and communication abilities. Students will examine the tools, technology, and techniques used in animation, with presentations of animation from various studios, feature-length films, and experimental shorts. ANIM 201 focuses on the foundational history and interpretation of the past through animation, while ANIM 301 delves into stylistic changes from the 1950s, the rise of television animation, the second golden age of Disney, and the advent of CG animation, emphasizing the evolution of culture from literary to visual and the importance of conveyed images.

Requirements

Working knowledge of animation history
Working knowledge of the figures involved in animation
Master's degree is preferable

Responsibilities

Teach ANIM 201: History of Animation
Teach ANIM 301: History of Animation
Introduce students to the context, culture, and technology of animation
Explore the history of animation, its practitioners, and development
