The Fremont Police Department - Animal Services Division is recruiting for the position of Animal Services Manager. The Animal Services Manager serves as the operational leader of the Animal Services Unit and Tri-City Animal Shelter, overseeing staff, programs, contracts, and services that support both animals and residents across the Tri-City area. This position is ideal for an experienced leader who enjoys balancing animal welfare, public service, operational management, and community engagement. We are looking for someone who demonstrates strong leadership and supervisory skills, has experience working within animal services, shelter operations, veterinary services, or animal control programs, is comfortable navigating challenging situations involving members of the public while maintaining professionalism and empathy, has experience managing contracts, budgets, and organizational priorities, is passionate about animal welfare and community education, and values collaboration and fostering a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities include managing the Tri-City Animal Shelter, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, overseeing veterinary and sheltering services, supervising field and shelter operations, supporting staff development, managing contracts and budgets, and representing the Animal Services Unit with community stakeholders, partner agencies, and elected officials as appropriate.
