Work Study - Animal Science Meat Lab Assistant - Sales and inventory
About The Position
This position assists the Meat lab with the sales room and inventory. The role involves assisting the Meat laboratory manager with daily operations of a state-inspected meat processing plant. This includes maintaining inventory, running the sales room during weekly meat sales, working with customers, processing transactions, preparing for sales, cleaning the sales room, and maintaining records of meat sales. Supplemental functions include assisting with other duties in the Meat Lab as needed. Students will gain valuable interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, as well as an understanding of how a state-inspected meat processing plant functions.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled student at UW.
- Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
- Reliable, responsible and on-time
Nice To Haves
- Meat processing or retail experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining inventory of the Meat Lab and sales room
- Running the sales room during weekly Meat sales (working with customers, processing transactions, preparing for sales, cleaning of the sales room, etc.)
- Maintaining records of Meat sales and filing/recording them as needed
- Assisting with other duties in the Meat Lab as needed
