The Companion Animal Supervisor is a subject-matter leader responsible for the health, care, and presentation of live animals while driving sales, customer experience, and operational excellence in the Companion Animal and Aquatics departments. The role combines a commitment to animal welfare with operational discipline and business acumen, and leads through expertise, influence, and coaching. The supervisor ensures animals receive care consistent with Petco standards, policies, and veterinary protocols; supports department sales, margin, and shrink goals; and provides customers with knowledgeable service. The role also leads and develops partners, maintains operational and regulatory standards, supports omnichannel services, and serves as Leader on Duty for Pet Care Center operations. The position is primarily performed indoors in a Pet Care Center retail environment, with regular presence on the sales floor and occasional duties outside the center. It involves frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting or moving merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. The role requires working near animals and exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is needed for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Limited travel may be required for training, meetings, or community engagement.
