About The Position

The Salvation Army is hiring a temporary, seasonal Angel Tree Worker to support its seasonal Angel Tree program in the Shoals area. The role includes assisting with donation collection and distribution, serving at Angel Tree sites, interacting with donors and recipients, preparing and organizing the warehouse, and entering recipient information into an established database. The position is located in Florence, Alabama, and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at $10.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.
• Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision.
• Ability to relate to the general public in a polite, friendly manner.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, and standing, and some climbing; stand in one location for extended periods.
• Limited physical effort involving walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects for 5–10% of work time.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of The Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree Program.

Responsibilities

• Respond to questions about the Angel Tree program and maintain positive relationships with donors and recipients to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Travel to Angel Tree sites to represent The Salvation Army and deliver supplies.
• Assist with Angel Tree pickups from drop-off locations and unload donations at the Christmas warehouse.
• Assist recipients with loading gifts into vehicles.
• Lift and stack donations in vehicles and the warehouse, distribute donations to the proper place, and organize donated items according to the established method.
• Assist with data entry of recipient information into the established database.
• Assist with cleaning, laying out, and setting up the warehouse.
• Serve as an attendant at Angel Tree sites and interact with donors regarding the donation process.
