The Department of Anesthesiology at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC), an affiliate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP), is hiring core faculty for its four-year categorical residency program, launched in July 2024 and approved for 32 residents. The department is open to graduating residents and fellows as well as experienced anesthesiologists. Part-time work is available, and faculty positions rarely supervise CRNAs. Candidates with subspecialty training in pediatrics, cardiovascular/cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pediatric cardiovascular anesthesiology, critical care, or pain are welcome. The site is H-1B eligible, and leadership opportunities may be available. The schedule is three weeks on and one week off, with two 16-hour call shifts during each three-working-week period. One call shift is in-house and the other is taken from home; post-call days are off. The full-time clinical base salary range is $650,000–$700,000. The stated range is an estimate and may be affected by factors including position need, experience, qualifications, and community need. Additional compensation, such as bonuses or incentives, may apply. OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is a major teaching affiliate of UICOMP and the area’s only Level I Trauma Center and tertiary care medical center. It has nearly 6,000 employees and more than 640 patient beds, and is home to OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute, and OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute. Peoria and the Greater Peoria area offer urban, suburban, and rural living options, a lower cost of living, easy commutes, universities and medical schools, and professional and NCAA Division I college sports.
