About The Position

This is a 12-week contract position for an Anesthesiologist at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois. The hospital is undergoing significant expansion and modernization projects. The role involves providing anesthesia services for various procedures, including General, Ortho, and OB cases. The position does not require call or in-house call, and offers a car stipend of $250/week and a lodging stipend of $150/day. The Anesthesiologist will work 8-hour shifts and will supervise CRNAs at a 2 to 1 ratio, with MDs performing their own cases. The EMR system used is EPIC/iPro.

Requirements

• Current license to practice medicine in the state of Illinois.
• Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology. Board eligibility is also accepted.
• Currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the directing and coordinating of Activities in the Anesthesia Department
• Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
• Pre-anesthesia assessment
• Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
• Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
• Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
• Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
• Performance of clinical intervention as needed
