Anesthesiologist
About The Position
This is a 12-week contract position for an Anesthesiologist at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. The hospital is part of Riverside's network and provides a range of inpatient and outpatient care services. The Anesthesiologist will be responsible for the medical management of patients undergoing surgery and other procedures, including pre-anesthesia assessments, administering anesthesia, monitoring patients, and performing clinical interventions as needed. The case volume is light, with 10-20 cases per day. Coverage is typically one week with the same MD covering day shift and call, with overtime options available.
Requirements
- Current license to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
- Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology. Board eligibility is also accepted.
- Currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the directing and coordinating of Activities in the Anesthesia Department
- Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
- Pre-anesthesia assessment
- Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
- Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
- Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
- Performance of clinical intervention as needed
