About The Position

The Veterinary Anesthesia Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily coordination and flow of anesthetic procedures throughout the hospital to ensure efficient, safe, and timely patient care. This role serves as the primary point of contact for the anesthesia department, facilitating communication among specialty teams, managing scheduling priorities, and addressing workflow challenges as they arise. The Veterinary Anesthesia Coordinator works closely with veterinarians, technicians, and hospital leadership to optimize patient throughput while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Requirements

Prior veterinary experience required
Advanced knowledge of veterinary anesthesia, patient monitoring, perioperative patient care, physiology, and pharmacology.
Strong leadership, delegation, organizational, and time-management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and clinical teams.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, patient needs, and hospital demands, including the ability to work additional hours when necessary.
Commitment to providing exceptional patient care, client service, and support to fellow team members.

Nice To Haves

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred.
Previous anesthesia experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee the daily anesthesia schedule to ensure the efficient utilization of staff, equipment, and hospital resources while supporting exceptional patient care.
Collaborate with all specialty departments to organize the workflow of anesthetic procedures and ensure cases progress efficiently throughout the day.
Serve as the primary communication liaison for the anesthesia department, facilitating communication between clinical teams and providing updates on procedure status, scheduling changes, and patient needs while fostering a positive culture.
Monitor hospital workflow and proactively address scheduling conflicts, delays, and operational challenges while adjusting priorities as patient care demands change.
Assist with triaging emergent anesthetic cases and modifying schedules to accommodate urgent and critical patients.
Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff and help ensure timely completion of anesthetic procedures.
Assist in the development and implementation of anesthetic protocols to promote safe, effective, and consistent patient care.
Perform blood collection procedures, submit laboratory samples, and assist with patient preparation for anesthetic procedures.
Provide safe and effective animal restraint for blood draws, IV catheter placement, intubation, radiographs, and other patient care procedures.
Monitor inventory levels for anesthesia-related supplies and equipment; place orders, track deliveries, and communicate delays or backorders to the Clinical Manager.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, patient care processes, and departmental operations.
Demonstrate strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills while working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
