About The Position

Anesthesia Technician assists the Anesthesiologist before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves handling delicate anesthesia equipment and ensuring appropriate supplies and equipment are prepared, including for emergencies. The technician uses judgment to select supplies for each case based on patient size and the type of anesthesia being administered. Direct supervision is provided by the Anesthesiologist and OR Manager. The technician is accountable to the OR Manager and works within Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s mission and core values.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques.

Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality at all times and adhere to hospital policies and procedures, ethical business practices, and corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Assist the Anesthesiologist in the Operating Room.
Prepare, monitor, and maintain delicate equipment for the Anesthesia Department.
Set up IV lines for anesthesiologist needs using aseptic technique.
Stock anesthesia carts with medications and supplies.
Maintain off-site equipment and carts in ready status.
Assist with safe patient transportation.
Order and maintain stock levels of supplies and agents for the Anesthesia Department.
Promote effective communication.
Participate in departmental and hospital PI and CQI.
Attend departmental and hospital meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
