About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician assists the Anesthesiologist before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role handles delicate anesthesia equipment and ensures appropriate supplies and equipment are prepared, including for emergencies. The technician uses judgment to select supplies based on patient size and the type of anesthesia being administered. Direct supervision is provided by the Anesthesiologist and OR Manager. The position is accountable to the OR Manager and operates within the framework of Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s mission and core values.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques.

Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Conduct ethical business practices and comply with corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Assist the Anesthesiologist in the Operating Room.
Prepare, monitor, and maintain delicate equipment for the Anesthesia Department.
Set up IV lines for the Anesthesiologist using aseptic technique.
Stock anesthesia carts with medications and supplies.
Maintain off-site equipment and carts in ready status.
Assist with safe patient transportation.
Order and maintain stock levels of supplies and agents for the Anesthesia Department.
Promote effective communication.
Participate in departmental and hospital PI and CQI.
Attend departmental and hospital meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
