About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician assists anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists with preparing and maintaining anesthesia monitoring devices and delivery systems. The role also helps manage equipment and supplies needed to administer anesthesia and support clinical anesthesia delivery.

This position works in perioperative services, a fast-paced, technologically advanced operating-room environment. The technician works alongside nurses, surgical technologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care. Shifts vary, and the schedule includes call coverage one night per week and every fourth weekend, with holiday call required one to two times per year. Call requires a 30-minute response time.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to move freely, including standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist anesthesia providers in delivering anesthesia care by setting up required and anticipated supplies and equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment.
• Support anesthetic delivery during induction, emergence, and critical events, including transfusion reactions, difficult airways, and fluid resuscitation.
• Prepare and set up rooms throughout the facility with required anesthesia supplies and equipment.
• Clean anesthesia equipment between cases and restock supplies as needed.
• Perform routine and periodic maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
• Report defective equipment to Biomed and inform the supervisor.
