About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician assists anesthesia providers, including Anesthesiologists and CRNAs, with the technical setup for general, regional, and local anesthesia. The role prepares, checks, maintains, and turns over anesthesia equipment and supplies in operating rooms, and supports safe clinical operations by following infection control and exposure-control policies. The technician also maintains equipment records, collaborates with vendor representatives on clinical products and procedures, and uses medical supplies cost-effectively.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

ASATT certification.
Prior knowledge of anesthesia equipment or previous experience in a surgical environment.

Responsibilities

Assist anesthesia providers with technical setup for general, regional, and local anesthesia.
Assist with placement of physical monitoring lines, including intravenous and intra-arterial catheters.
Verify the layout, sterility, and functioning of anesthesia equipment and disposable items before cases.
Order, stock, turn over, and set up anesthesia setups in operating rooms daily and between surgical cases.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize anesthesia equipment according to infection control policies.
Maintain equipment logs and update the department's equipment database.
Collaborate with vendor representatives to evaluate new clinical products, techniques, and procedures.
Demonstrate cost-effectiveness when tracking, using, or purchasing medical supplies.
Follow facility exposure control plans regarding bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and radiation hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
