About The Position

The Anesthesia Tech, functioning as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves interacting with hospital staff and ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts, assisting in their resolution. The technician plans and individualizes patient care, offering technical and clinical support to Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists by ensuring the availability and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Responsibilities include preparing anesthesia supplies and equipment for invasive catheter placement, assisting anesthesia providers with patient airway induction and intubation, and supporting patient transport. The role also involves cleaning, sterilizing, and disinfecting routine anesthesia equipment, and maintaining inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts and emergency airway carts. Participation in ongoing educational and competency verification activities is expected. This position promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Requirements

  • Current LVN license in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum six months experience within a surgical setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of healthcare professionals and multi-task.
  • Familiar with basic nursing performance standards for all age groups as outlined in the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
  • High School diploma, GED, or Higher Education required.
  • Currently licensed as a Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas.
  • Must have and maintain current BLS certification, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with curriculum of the AHA for Healthcare Provider’s Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification (CER.A.T.T) through ASATT recommended within two years.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, sterilizes, and disinfects routine anesthesia equipment.
  • Maintains inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, emergency airway carts, and the anesthesia supply areas.
  • Participates in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to anesthesia technician activities.
