About The Position

The Anesthesia Tech assists anesthesiologists, anesthetists, CRNAs, and MDAs with day-to-day needs, equipment setup, ordering, restocking, and cleaning. The role provides anesthesia support services for the Main Operating Room, obstetrics, and ancillary departments as needed. It supports anesthesia needs throughout the operating room schedule, adapting assistance to the surgical procedure and the patient's age.

Responsibilities

Perform or assist with turning over anesthesia machines, clean them, and ensure equipment meets established standards.
Prepare anesthesia supplies for upcoming surgical procedures and stock anesthesia machines in the main operating room and remote areas.
Maintain equipment used during surgical and other procedures requiring anesthesia.
Arrange repairs for complex equipment issues with vendors or internal biomedical engineering staff.
Exchange anesthesia machines between operating suites and transport and prepare machines in remote areas.
Assist anesthesiologists and anesthetists during procedures by promptly running errands, answering questions, and obtaining needed supplies or equipment.
Monitor and replace sodalime in gas machines according to established procedures.
Clean and sterilize laryngoscope blades and other airway devices.
Check and change oxygen and other tanks according to established procedures.
Set up invasive line transducers and IVs and bring these and other equipment or supplies to operating rooms before and during cases.
Assist with patient lifting and positioning.
Assist operating room staff with room turnover, including cleaning, patient transport, room setup, supply stocking, and ordering.
Maintain and manage an organized, clean inventory of anesthesia supplies in the anesthesia workroom.
Assist material resource staff with supply ordering and revenue capture for supplies used.
Use good judgment and objective decision-making, work productively as part of a team, and use downtime appropriately.
Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.
