About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician 2 assists anesthesiologists with procedures before, during, and after anesthesia. The role prepares, calibrates, and checks equipment before procedures, cleans anesthesia equipment and work areas, and stocks anesthesia supplies in operating rooms and satellite areas such as the GI Lab and Radiology.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
One year of experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtain BLS within 30 days.
General knowledge of anesthesiology standards and practices, modalities, therapies, terminology, medications, and equipment.
Skill in preparing operating rooms for required purposes.
Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
Ability to clean and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing.
Relational skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
Ability to read, write, and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
Basic computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

Responsibilities

Arrange drugs and set up instrument tables with supplies for anesthesia procedures in operating rooms and satellite areas.
Ensure anesthesia carts and supply cabinets contain adequate supplies for procedures.
Assist anesthesiologists during procedures by passing supplies, instruments, and lines.
Clean tables, equipment, and work areas in operating rooms after assigned cases.
Answer intercom requests for supplies and drugs from nurse anesthetists, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams; retrieve requested items from pharmacists and other supply areas and deliver them to operating rooms.
Wash, dry, and prepare non-disposable anesthesia equipment, including laryngoscopes, blades, oxygen masks, and humidifiers, for sterilization.
Check equipment to ensure it is working properly and report issues to Biomedical Engineering.
