The Montreal, Quebec, Canada facility is seeking skilled individuals for the position of Business Analyst / IT Operations Liaison. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Lumber Industry.

Requirements

  • Excellent ability to translate operational needs into IT solutions.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing sector (ideally sawmills / lumber).
  • Good understanding of systems (ERP, BI).
  • Analytical skills, critical thinking, and structured thinking.
  • Clear communication and ability to simplify complex information.
  • Autonomy, prioritization, diplomacy.
  • Proficiency with data (advanced Excel, Power BI).
  • Bilingual in English (required for recurring interactions with clients, partners, and US subsidiaries, both orally and in writing).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between departments and IT.
  • Gather needs, pain points, or improvement requests from production, planning, logistics, transport, sales, shipping, and accounting teams.
  • Analyze, structure, and prioritize these requests.
  • Translate operational needs into functional terms understandable by IT.
  • Oversee the request process: analysis → development → testing → deployment → training.
  • Understand the complete wood cycle: sawing → drying → planing → inventory → planning → ordering → logistics → shipping → invoicing.
  • Identify friction points and propose improvements.
  • Act as a functional expert for systems (ERP): configuration, validation, testing.
  • Assist users with incidents or usage problems.
  • Ensure data consistency across systems (production → logistics → finance).
  • Assist administrative departments (AR/AP, invoicing, accounting) in resolving discrepancies (quantities, prices, products, transport).
  • Understand accounts payable processes: Interface, reverse billing.
  • Propose and document necessary internal controls.
  • Manage Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD) data for the United States.
  • Understand necessary data: tariff codes, log origin, declared values, applicable rates.
  • Ensure systems correctly calculate AD/CVD.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams during administrative reviews or audits.
  • Maintain rigorous traceability in systems.
  • Produce reports and dashboards (Power BI/Excel/ERP).
  • Analyze trends, detect anomalies, and propose solutions.
  • Document current processes (AS-IS) and propose improvements (TO-BE).
  • Actively participate in IT projects: integrations, improvements, migrations.
  • Monitor EDI incidents, analyze errors, and coordinate fixes with IT.
  • Participate in the integration of new EDI clients or transactional messages.
  • Maintain documentation for mappings, business rules, and specific partner requirements.
