About The Position

Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV) is seeking an Analyst, Data & Analytics for its two-year Analyst Program. This program is designed for recent graduates interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, and related fields. The analyst will contribute to high-priority strategic initiatives, gaining exposure to technology commercialization, startup formation, intellectual property, corporate engagement, venture funding, and innovation management. Through cohort-based learning, professional development, executive exposure, cross-functional projects, and mentorship, analysts will develop analytical, communication, and leadership skills. The Analyst, Data & Analytics will serve as a central resource for transforming data into actionable insights, helping to build the tools, systems, and analytical infrastructure that support technology evaluation, commercialization decision-making, business intelligence, and organizational effectiveness. At the end of the two-year term, analysts may be considered for open positions within JHTV, but continuation of employment is not guaranteed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • No prior professional experience required.
  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident required due to Federal Export Controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data pipelines, databases, or analytical tooling (coursework or projects acceptable).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools and applications.
  • Ability to communicate technical work to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sources to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and recommendations.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, presentations, briefing materials, and executive summaries for operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Support projects involving faculty, university leaders, external partners, and other stakeholders by conducting research, analysis, and developing recommendations.
  • Translate complex information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Support business process improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to tools, systems, workflows, and reporting practices.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, trackers, and project materials.
  • Build productive relationships across JHTV and the broader university community.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in cohort-based onboarding, professional development programming, mentorship opportunities, and cross-functional learning experiences.
  • Contribute to a capstone project and final presentation addressing a strategic opportunity or challenge within JHTV.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Aggregate and integrate data assets from university and external sources into scalable analytical resources.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, databases, reporting tools, and decision-support systems.
  • Develop repeatable frameworks for evaluating technologies, opportunities, and commercialization outcomes.
  • Design and support AI-enabled tools and automation solutions that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Assist with development of internal knowledge management systems and information portals.
  • Create data visualizations and analytical products that communicate insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with commercialization teams to improve access to information and business intelligence.
  • Analyze data quality, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to data governance practices.
  • Support implementation of new reporting capabilities and analytical workflows.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create tools that improve consistency and efficiency in opportunity assessment.
