Analog & Power Electrical Engineer II - Onsite

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$68,900 - $131,100•Onsite

About The Position

Join Raytheon’s Hardware Electrical Engineering Organization, which designs, tests, manufactures, and supports advanced electrical subsystems for extreme battlefield environments. The role contributes to technologies involving target detection and tracking, guidance, navigation, digital signal processing, communications, and high-reliability circuit card assemblies. It focuses on designing, simulating, analyzing, and testing analog electronics; power conversion and distribution systems; flight termination and telemetry systems; and precision servo and motor-control systems. The engineer works with multidisciplinary teams to take concepts from requirements through laboratory integration and production support.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM discipline, obtained by the start date.
  • Experience or coursework in at least one of these areas: analog electronics, power electronics, power systems, or control systems.
  • Experience developing simulations or models of electrical circuits or engineering systems using PSPICE, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent computational software.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts through engineering documentation, such as design specifications, technical reports, or schematics, or through technical presentations.
  • Experience may be gained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date; ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on laboratory experience with hardware development, power-conversion prototyping, or electronic troubleshooting using standard test benches.
  • Familiarity with power-conversion architectures, including linear and switching supplies, resonant circuits, PFC, and ZVS, or with power distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of test and production methods for electronic components, magnetics, filters, or power systems.
  • Experience with data-conversion and transmission methodologies, such as ADCs/DACs, RS422, and LVDS.
  • Practical experience or coursework in motor-control algorithms, inertial stabilization, or servo feedback mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, simulate, and document analog circuitry, AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC power conversion modules, and power subsystem architectures.
  • Develop precision control systems, including servo control loops, motor drives, digital feedback systems, and command-generation models.
  • Architect and design flight termination and telemetry systems, including analog/digital conversion, data acquisition modules, encoders, and RF transmitters.
  • Model power-system dynamics, electromagnetic interference (EMI), harmonic controls, and circuit stress using tools such as PSPICE, LTspice, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Support hardware integration, laboratory characterization, troubleshooting, and production testing of electrical power components.
  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, and reliability engineers to ensure hardware meets operational specifications and program milestones.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including schematics, design review data packages, test procedures, and trade study reports.
