About The Position

This role focuses on providing direct service to participants through career planning and job search support. AmeriCorps members are responsible for tracking and documenting at least 15 hours of career planning and job search skills for a minimum of 20 assigned participants. The emphasis is on helping participants achieve program goals, secure employment, or advance their careers.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Has not enrolled more than four times in an AmeriCorps State or National Direct Program, or more than five one-year terms for VISTA programs or two terms for NCCC programs.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one and small-group career advancement sessions.
  • Develop Career Success Plans for participants pursuing jobs or advancement.
  • Monitor, document, and report participant progress with case notes.
  • Connect participants to community resources, agencies, and post-secondary opportunities (referral to supportive services such as transportation, childcare, housing) and to workforce and career services (college, technical training, military, or employment).
  • Conduct classroom instruction on goal setting, financial literacy, and career development.
  • Facilitate workshops on job search skills, résumé building, interview preparation, and workplace professionalism.
  • Provide individualized job coaching support through regular check-ins, goal setting, and motivational guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
