About The Position

The Alternatives Business Management Intern will support the smooth operation of PIMCO’s alternatives business across relevant funds and accounts. This role involves working closely with portfolio managers to deliver data and analytics for decision-making, and supporting transformative strategic initiatives led by the team. The internship is a 10-week program from early June to mid-August, including PIMCO Fundamentals Training, Global Month of Volunteering, cross-divisional education, networking, and social events. Interns receive guidance and mentorship, gain hands-on experience with AI-powered tools, and participate in formal review processes.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Must be able to begin full-time employment from a PIMCO office between January 2028 – August 2028.
  • Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027).
  • Minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Business proficiency in English.

  • Preferred but not required: buy or sell side trade room, private equity and/or real estate, legal and/or compliance, product and/or project management related experience.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and experience in using new emerging technologies and AI tools in work or school projects to solve problems and drive better outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage critical reporting, forecasting, capacity analysis, and budgeting for the alternatives business.
  • Manage the administrative system that guides day-to-day operations for the global alternatives business.
  • Develop and manage strategic initiatives to scale the alternatives business, achieve goals, and mitigate risk.
  • Create innovative solutions that are standardized, scalable, sustainable, singular, and secure.
  • Lead complex projects with large cross-functional teams.
  • Act as individual contributors on initiatives spearheaded and overseen by the Alternatives Business Management team.
  • Oversee the Governance and Administration of Alts fund policies & procedures, processes, and transaction management in the US & Europe.
  • Manage and oversee transactions throughout the deal lifecycle to maximize efficiencies and minimize delays.
