About The Position

An internship with our company is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 -14 week program that starts in mid-May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Are you interested in the intersection of business and technology? Do you enjoy solving problems, working with people, and seeing how software solutions come to life? We're looking for a Technology & Business Systems Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience supporting critical business applications and technology initiatives. In this role, you'll work closely with business stakeholders, software developers, and Scrum team members to help deliver technology solutions that improve how work gets done. You'll have the opportunity to participate in real projects, translate business needs into technical requirements, and gain exposure to modern development practices, Agile delivery, and emerging AI tools. In this hybrid role, you will spend 10 days a month working from the Madison, WI corporate office.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Must be currently seeking a baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral degree and be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis or as required by the university's co-op program.
  • Must have achieved 24 semester hours of academic credit before beginning the first work term.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand business needs and project goals.
  • Help gather, document, and clarify requirements for new enhancements and system improvements.
  • Act as a liaison between business partners and software development teams.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating systems, applications, and documentation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Support testing efforts and help validate that solutions meet business requirements.
  • Work closely with experienced Java developers and learn how enterprise applications are designed, built, and supported.
  • Contribute to project work that impacts real business outcomes.
  • Gain exposure to AI-enabled development tools and emerging technologies, including Claude Code.
