The City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking an Alternative Sports Recreation Program Coordinator to join their team. This role is responsible for developing and leading new programs, promoting equity in non-traditional outdoor sports, and supporting key initiatives of the agency’s Outdoor Adventure and Alternative Sports Strategic Plan and DPR’s Game Plan for a Healthy City. The coordinator will manage and market the day-to-day functions of Alternative Sports programs, which include oversight of Ruby Hill Ski and Snowboard Railyard, biking (BMX, E-bike rides, Learn-to-Bike, mountain biking), climbing on artificial rock walls, roller-skating, skateboarding, disc golf, and other program offerings for all ages within Denver’s Urban Parks System. The position involves collaborating with other coordinators and supervisors, instructing programs, training instructors, managing program vehicles, assisting with staff recruitment and training, performing community outreach, overseeing program calendars and scheduling, promoting programs with the DPR Marketing Team, reserving spaces, and providing support for a designated recreation center.
