About The Position

As an Airport Security Officer at a government airport location in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, you will serve and safeguard clients by conducting unarmed patrols and providing customer service to travelers, visitors, employees, and vendors. You will maintain a visible presence, help deter security concerns, monitor access to restricted areas, and report unusual activity. The role is part-time on an overnight schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. The pay rate is $25.25 per hour.

Requirements

• At least one year of security-related experience.
• Valid driver's license; the posting lists this among the requirements and states a one-year duration.
• At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to pass a background check, physical, and drug screening.
• Ability to pass a background check according to the DOT Pass and ID office.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply prior to employment, subject to state and/or local laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to travelers, visitors, employees, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of terminal areas, parking facilities, access points, perimeter areas, and other assigned airport locations; identify and report unusual activity or conditions.
• Monitor access to restricted areas and assist with directing authorized personnel and visitors in accordance with airport procedures.
• Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, notify appropriate personnel, and complete required documentation.
• Maintain a visible presence to help deter unauthorized access, disruptive behavior, and other security-related concerns.
