About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Airfoil Cell Operator for the 3rd Shift. This role involves working with operation sheets, drawings, computer-generated information, and verbal instructions to machine, fabricate, and finish production parts. The operator will perform bench assembly, finishing operations, and part preparatory functions such as grit blasting, shot peening, masking, and routine oven operations. They will use measuring instruments to check dimensions, record results, and enter data into computer systems. Routine servicing of equipment and assisting with new equipment or process tryouts are also part of the role. The operator may be assigned tasks not specifically listed to support department objectives and develop skills, and may be required to obtain and maintain licenses and certifications.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of machining experience or 1 year of technical training.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

  • Work from operation sheets, drawings, computer generated information and verbal instructions to obtain specified equipment, tools and gages to machine, fabricate and finish a variety of production parts.
  • Perform bench assembly and finishing operations as assigned, using a variety of handheld tools, power tools and other equipment to process parts during various stages of manufacturing operations.
  • Perform part preparatory functions including various methods of grit blast, shot peening, masking and routine oven operations to clean parts or condition surfaces for coatings.
  • Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions.
  • Record results and enter information into computer data systems as required.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as operator’s check list for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
  • Assist others who are responsible for new equipment or process tryout and other specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this job description.
  • Refer problems to leader/supervisor as appropriate to resolve difficulties.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual’s skills.
  • May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.
