About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Airfoil Cell Operator for the 2nd Shift. This role involves performing routine servicing, operating simple machines, transporting materials, and assembling/finishing parts. The operator will also perform part preparatory functions like grit blasting and shot peening, use measuring instruments, record data, and assist with new equipment tryouts. The position requires adherence to specified procedures and written instructions to ensure equipment operates properly. Difficulties should be referred to a leader or supervisor. The role may also involve tasks not specifically listed to support department objectives and individual skill development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of work experience with machining methods or equivalent to one year of technical experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions.
  • Set up and operate simple machines or equipment to produce parts.
  • Operate grouped simple machines or equipment types.
  • Transport parts, raw material and fixtures.
  • Work from operation sheets, drawings, computer generated information and verbal instructions.
  • Obtain specified equipment, tools and gages to machine, fabricate and finish a variety of production parts.
  • Perform bench assembly and finishing operations using a variety of handheld tools, power tools and other equipment.
  • Perform part preparatory functions including various methods of grit blast, shot peening, masking and routine oven operations.
  • Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions.
  • Record results and enter information into computer data systems as required.
  • Assist others who are responsible for new equipment or process tryout and other specialized assignments.
  • Refer difficulties to leader or supervisor.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
