About The Position

The Aircraft Quality Control Inspector provides support for organizational-, intermediate-, and depot-level tasks for Presidential Helicopter platforms in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements. This senior-level aircraft mechanic and quality control inspector supports the VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, test aircraft, and other aircraft periodically hosted by PMA-274. The position is onsite in Patuxent River, Maryland, and requires Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access and a CAC. The inspector develops and implements quality control and ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications. The role performs complex aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications; checks systems and components for condition and conformity; and ensures maintenance is performed and documented in accordance with applicable standards and NAMP requirements. The inspector also reviews maintenance records and technical data, assesses personnel qualifications and work, manages deficiency and technical-improvement processes, and supports safety, mishap, weight-and-balance, and egress-equipment programs. Compensation is $52.09 per hour plus $5.09 per hour for health and welfare. Employment is contingent upon contract award, funding, background investigation, and clearance eligibility.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least three years of experience in the field consistent with quality assurance requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, or other applicable technology related to fabrication, repair, operation, and maintenance.
For inspection of egress equipment, provide documented egress-equipment work history to the COR.
Experience supporting IPTs and ITTs.
Seven or more years of airframe, avionics, or powerplant aviation maintenance experience.
Former CDI/CDQAR.
Ability to work day, swing, or mid shift as required.
Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access and a CAC are required.
Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
Sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems; ability to work in high-noise environments, wear required PPE, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Five or more years of maintenance experience on VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, or similar aircraft.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement quality control and ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
Inspect and verify proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies.
Brief and debrief pilots and crew members assigned to functional check flights.
Evaluate contractor personnel, including verifying skills, training, and experience.
Audit and inspect work centers, ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment, and facilities.
Examine parts and components for conformance to design specifications and determine serviceability; complete and stamp disposition forms or tags and route items appropriately.
Monitor the timeliness and applicability of aircraft maintenance technical data and the technical library.
Review maintenance source documents and aircraft inspection records, identify recurring discrepancies or trends, and initiate appropriate action.
Manage the material deficiency and technical order improvement program.
Review engineering investigation requests and initiate or review quality deficiency, technical deficiency, and hazardous material reports for accuracy and completeness.
Receive and review aircraft and explosive mishap reports for applicability.
Oversee the aircraft weight-and-balance program.
Conduct safety inspections, training, and drills; prepare and maintain reports.
Inspect egress equipment for compliance with egress mechanics requirements and inspect cartridge-activated devices.
Perform complex aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications.
Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems in accordance with NAMP requirements.
Lead and provide technical guidance to lower-level mechanics, and review others’ work for accuracy and conformity to standards.
Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programs.
Inspect airframe, flight-control, hydraulic, pneumatic, and landing-gear systems.
Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and directives.
Troubleshoot and repair aircraft avionics systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
