About The Position

This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0711000 and is part of the NC ASO, National Guard (ASO - AASF #1 / 4141-175). As an AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), GS-2181-12, you will direct, evaluate, and issue technical guidance to aviation units on matters pertaining to aviation training, readiness reporting, and NGB training management and planning. You will oversee both collective and individual programs, provide staff level supervision to training officers and noncommissioned officers in battalions and related requests for waivers of flying program requirements, and manage the AFTP Program. You will also conduct audits and provide reports on utilization, entitlement, and total program execution, focusing on FHP and OSA priorities. This role facilitates direct communication between supported and supporting units involving aviation support, ensuring all aviation support requirements contribute to increased readiness. You will supervise and coordinate training programs for ground commanders in the use and planning for employment of Army aviation assets. Additionally, you will serve as Aircraft Maintenance Manager and a technical expert in aircraft equipment maintenance, coordinating intermediate and limited Depot Maintenance Programs for the AASFs. You will provide coordination and interface between aviation facilities and staff offices such as USPFO, Support Personnel Management Office, Public Affairs, Emergency Operations Center, Facilities Management Office, and State Maintenance Office to ensure smooth operation of the State Aviation Maintenance Program. This includes collecting information, providing advice, rendering decisions, and preparing reports of corrective action. You will manage the aircraft inventory for the state, coordinate between receiving and/or losing states or facilities for transfer documents, flight crew requirements, and transfer criteria for all aircraft transfers. You will work directly with facility PBOs to monitor property book management and provide staff level support and assistance to physical security/operational security managers of aviation units in the state. In the absence of the SAAO, you will serve as an advisor to the Adjutant General regarding ARNG aviation matters and perform liaison between the Adjutant General and user organizations concerning aviation and aircraft maintenance. Liaison is maintained with appropriate agencies for logistic support of assigned aircraft and with Aviation Officers at various Army headquarters. In these situations, the incumbent may exercise personnel management and supervision of aviation facilities. You will maintain SIPR room requirements and applicable regulations, update and maintain SKL software, ensure SKLs are uploaded with current keys, and oversee and provide recommendations for the AASF#1 SIPR program. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2-year probation/trail period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Military Grades: Warrant Officer (WO1 to CW3)
  • Competent understanding of the occupation's basic principles and concepts.
  • Minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level.
  • At least two years specialized competencies in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft (AH-64E), mission planning, and mission preparation.
  • Experienced in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information.
  • Experienced in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.
  • Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.
  • Experienced in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance.
  • Competent in conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks.
  • Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
  • Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.
  • Experienced in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with DoD, DoA, NGB, and/or OSHA policies, regulations, and directives.
  • Must have working experiences in civilian aviation programs; or, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities.
  • At least two years experiences in instructing others in a specific air-frame/military aircraft.
  • Competent to complete various piloting administrative tasks performed in support of Army National Guard aviation programs.
  • Skilled to instruct others to pilot military aircraft on a regular and recurring basis.
