About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic II - Aircraft Inspector serves as a passback hangar quality control technical inspector for MH-60, MH-47, and MH-6 aircraft. The role inspects and accepts maintenance, manages aircraft historical records, coordinates government quality assurance acceptance of critical safety items, and supports aircraft inventory, weight and balance, and tool-control activities. The inspector uses technical publications and engineering data to assess repair or replacement methods and tracks defective work and life-limited components.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship.
Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
At least 6 years of aircraft maintenance experience; preferably at least 2 years of experience on assigned MDS aircraft.
Ability to climb on, in, and around aircraft, maintenance stands, and major components.

Nice To Haves

Service school producing aircraft technical inspectors is desirable.
Weight and balance certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

Inspect and accept maintenance performed, and complete aircraft historical record processes in ACN and MCDS.
Coordinate government quality assurance acceptance of critical safety items.
Conduct aircraft inventories and weight and balance activities, and track defective work in the phase bay.
Read schematics and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Submit aircraft historical records for government review upon completion of maintenance.
Conduct post-maintenance and end-of-shift tool inventories.
Produce Maintenance Engineering Calls (MECs) for submission to a Logistical Assistance Representative (LAR) for repairs beyond the limits specified in technical publications.
Track life-limited components in aircraft historical records.
