The Aircraft Branch Manager provides senior-level oversight of aircraft maintenance operations in direct support of the 89th Airlift Wing executive airlift mission. This role leads and manages aircraft maintenance and integrated logistic support services on 22 commercial-derivative Special Air Mission (SAM) aircraft assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing that transport national and international leaders on a 24/7 basis. The manager is responsible for an annual budget exceeding $7M and for the training and certification of over 176 aircraft mechanics and electronic technicians supporting SAM and Transient Aircraft operations. Additionally, this position ensures all required tools, support equipment, personal protective equipment, and technical guidance are available and utilized by assigned branch personnel. The manager supervises and coordinates the daily activities of this 176-person workforce, which is divided into four sections: Flightline, Transient Maintenance, Inspection Dock, and Tool Room. Key objectives include maintaining the Flightline maintenance/cosmetic quality at the highest level with a 99% departure reliability rate, ensuring the Transient Maintenance operation can service over 5,000 aircraft annually, supporting the Inspection Dock with qualified personnel and equipment for in-depth inspections to maintain the SAM Fleet's mission capability, and ensuring the Tool Room is properly staffed and trained for aircrew debriefings, HAZMAT program management, and Technical Data/supply maintenance. The role also involves reviewing and analyzing quality assurance and statistical reports to identify trends and initiate corrective actions, enforcing administrative and operational policies, and providing input to the Director of Maintenance to ensure the success of the SAM mission and the Amentum contract.
