About The Position

As an Air Quality Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Knoxville, TN office, you’ll evaluate and present information regarding emissions from proposed processes and equipment to support state and federal permit applications and regulatory compliance reports. You will assist clients with sustainability reporting and achieving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. Your responsibilities will include performing engineering calculations, compiling permit application documents, preparing compliance reports, coordinating with clients to obtain project information, communicating with regulatory personnel, and evaluating control technologies and emission reduction options for client facilities. You will work with a team of junior to experienced scientists and engineers, providing mentoring and technical training. Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Meteorology, or related fields
  • Experience with emission inventory calculations, air permit application preparation, and compliance reports
  • Experience in Project Management of air quality permitting and compliance projects is a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 5+ years consulting, compliance, or industry experience
  • Knowledge of USEPA, TN and other regional air quality regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of New Source Review procedures
  • Experience with Best Available Control Technology analyses
  • Familiarity with air compliance needs of the solid waste, manufacturing, mining, and power industries
  • Dispersion modeling experience using AERMOD.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and quantify emissions from processes and equipment to support permit applications and compliance reporting.
  • Compile and prepare state and federal permit applications and regulatory compliance reports.
  • Perform engineering calculations and assess control technologies and emission reduction strategies.
  • Assist clients with sustainability reporting and ESG-related initiatives.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory personnel to obtain project information and ensure compliance.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical training to junior and mid-level staff.
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to the growth of the Air Quality Practice.
