Early-Career Air Quality Engineer

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Air Quality Engineer in our Columbia, MD, or Washington, DC office. The position will apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations in the areas of air quality permitting and compliance, emission control technology evaluation, and air dispersion modeling for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Occasional field work and overnight travel.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced degree in environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or equivalent, if applicable.
- Previous experience in air quality permitting and compliance experience, preferably with an environmental consulting firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with air quality modeling (SCREEN3 and AERMOD).
- Experience in environmental compliance services (stormwater, spill planning, hazardous waste, etc.) and compliance auditing.
Responsibilities
- Conducting regulatory analyses related to air quality matters as driven by the Clean Air Act
- Preparing air emissions inventories and emissions calculations
- Conducting air dispersion modeling
- Developing air quality permit applications under NSR, PSD, Title V, and state-level regulations
- Performing analyses related to air pollution control systems and source monitoring and measurement requirements
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
- Support environmental permitting and compliance services in related disciplines, such as those driven by the Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
