Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Air Quality Engineer in our Columbia, MD, or Washington, DC office. The position will apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations in the areas of air quality permitting and compliance, emission control technology evaluation, and air dispersion modeling for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Occasional field work and overnight travel.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or equivalent, if applicable.
  • Previous experience in air quality permitting and compliance experience, preferably with an environmental consulting firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with air quality modeling (SCREEN3 and AERMOD).
  • Experience in environmental compliance services (stormwater, spill planning, hazardous waste, etc.) and compliance auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting regulatory analyses related to air quality matters as driven by the Clean Air Act
  • Preparing air emissions inventories and emissions calculations
  • Conducting air dispersion modeling
  • Developing air quality permit applications under NSR, PSD, Title V, and state-level regulations
  • Performing analyses related to air pollution control systems and source monitoring and measurement requirements
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
  • Support environmental permitting and compliance services in related disciplines, such as those driven by the Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
