About The Position

This role is responsible for transporting patients according to designated methods and scheduled times to and from all diagnostic and treatment areas within Sky Lakes Medical Center. The position requires notifying nursing staff before and after transport, ensuring patient charts accompany patients when necessary, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of transport vehicles and portable equipment. The Aide II Patient Transport also cooperates with department personnel, maintains adequate records, handles equipment responsibly, and promotes a positive work environment through effective communication and collaboration. A professional appearance and adherence to departmental policies are expected, along with demonstrating competence in patient care based on age and developmental level, and aligning with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, nursing and technical staff and others in a pleasant and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet needs of in-house requesters in a timely manner.
  • Ability to take direction from lead, manager or director regarding work activities and procedures.
  • Ability to transport and work with all age groups.
  • Good knowledge of body mechanics.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training program or applicable experience and demonstrated competence.
  • Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting patients to and from diagnostic and treatment areas according to designated methods and scheduled times.
  • Notifying nursing staff prior to transport and upon returning patients to the nursing floor.
  • Ensuring patient charts accompany patients when required.
  • Storing and maintaining transport vehicles, performing safety checks, and documenting them.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of portable equipment in the department and surgery.
  • Assisting department personnel as required in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintaining adequate records as directed.
  • Handling equipment in a responsible, professional manner.
  • Promoting a positive work environment by establishing good working relationships and effective communication.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance according to departmental and medical center policies.
  • Maintaining competency in all position responsibilities.
  • Setting a positive and professional atmosphere for patients.
  • Maintaining a positive and loyal attitude towards the employer.
  • Actively practicing good safety habits to prevent on-the-job injury.
  • Demonstrating competence in relation to the defined mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the organization.
  • Providing patient care and performing tasks using job skills and knowledge specific to the patient's age and/or developmental level.
