About The Position

AMD is seeking an AI Software Development Engineer to architect, develop, and accelerate the delivery of scalable, production-ready AI/ML solutions supporting AMD’s AI product portfolio. The role involves analyzing and developing machine learning reference solutions that demonstrate end-to-end value in application segments relevant to AMD’s AI products.

The position works directly with technical and business teams to define an AI solutions roadmap, partners with marketing teams to deploy early proof-of-concepts, and engages Tier 1 customers to support custom applications based on reference solutions. It also involves analyzing emerging AI trends and technologies, integrating new concepts and capabilities into the roadmap, and sharing insights with AMD product and technical teams.

As part of the Developer Acceleration Team in AMD’s AI Product Management organization, the role collaborates with stakeholders across the company and engages with external customers. Close interaction with Engineering, Applications, and Business Unit stakeholders is essential. The position is onsite in San Jose, California, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of machine learning architectures, models, and industry developer tools.
• Prior experience developing production software solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD methods.
• Experience implementing and training machine learning models using common frameworks, including model fine-tuning and deployment on hardware systems.
• Experience with production runtime serving of machine learning applications.
• Experience publishing to open source, including GitHub repositories and industry collaborations.
• Experience with emerging software frameworks for Generative AI and Agentic AI.
• Experience developing in Python and C/C++, and deploying solutions within Jupyter notebooks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and champion new ideas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical abilities.

Nice To Haves

• Impactful contributions to open-source projects; maintaining a popular open-source project is a plus.
• Full-stack software experience, including front-end user interfaces.
• Experience with foundational machine learning model architecture development or implementation, including Agentic AI, LLMs, RAG pipelines, multimodal applications such as ASR/TTS, and image-generation pipelines.
• Domain expertise in machine-learning application development, especially production-scale consumer or commercial software.
• Technical publications within the machine-learning industry.
• Collaboration with industry standards bodies.
• Bash, Python, or C++ scripting for test automation.

• Benchmark solutions in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers, including Engineering, Applications, and Business Unit teams.
