Urban Ridge Supplies•New York, NY

About The Position

ISMG is hiring a founding design-engineering team member to own the front-end and interaction design for its AI-native intelligence products, including audience analytics reporting, an AI-generated cybersecurity newscast, and a sourced Q&A system built on its conference archive. The role spans the product lifecycle, from stakeholder conversations and user research through prototyping, validation, implementation, deployment, and post-release measurement. The designer will translate complex AI and reporting workflows into clear, task-oriented experiences, establish the team’s design system and design-to-code practices, and collaborate with the AI Innovation Manager and business units. Products are built for security executives, ISMG’s editorial organization, and enterprise clients, and must address enterprise requirements such as role-based access, dense data, audit trails, exports, responsive behavior, and accessibility.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in enterprise front-end / UI/UX product development and design.
  • Strong understanding of user flows, interaction patterns, responsive UX, and intuitive interface design.
  • Experience with user-centered product discovery and demonstrated design judgment, including synthesizing user feedback and making evidence-based UX decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Next.js, React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and semantic HTML.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise UX fundamentals, including accessibility, performance, responsive behavior, role-based access, and dense data and visualization.
  • Experience using Claude for prototyping and Claude Code with VS Code or Cursor to turn UI/UX requirements into production-ready frontend code.
  • Advanced design-system capability and expertise in Tailwind CSS, design tokens, themes, and dark mode.
  • Experience with cross-platform mobile and tablet design, including compatibility and optimal UI/UX across handheld devices.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG, ARIA, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong eye for spacing, typography, motion, responsiveness, and visual issues in AI-generated code.
  • Experience with GitHub or Bitbucket code repositories and CI/CD workflows for team collaboration and deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Own front-end and interaction design for AI products from stakeholder conversations through deployed applications.
  • Conduct lightweight user research, prototype workflows, and validate designs with clients and internal users before and after release.
  • Translate complex AI and reporting workflows into clear information architecture and task-oriented experiences.
  • Design AI-specific interactions for communicating confidence and uncertainty, surfacing citations, and enabling reviewers to approve or reject machine-generated drafts.
  • Build quickly with AI-assisted development tools and move output into ISMG’s Azure environment, including Microsoft Entra ID authentication, Azure App Service or Static Web Apps, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Establish the team’s design system, including components, states, data visualization patterns, and an accessibility baseline.
  • Build and maintain Figma libraries and design tokens, and establish a practical design-to-code handoff process.
  • Design for enterprise needs, including role-based access, dense data, audit trails, exports, responsive behavior, and accessible interactions.
  • Instrument products through Application Insights and use adoption and usage data to inform the roadmap.
  • Partner with the AI Innovation Manager on API contracts and data access, and work with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to understand their needs.
