About The Position

SAIC is building an early-career AI/ML Developer team within its Solutions and Technology Group. Reporting to the Intel Space CTO, the role supports the creation, prototyping, and operationalization of AI/ML proofs of concept (PoCs), including GenAI/LLMs, NLP, and computer vision, tailored to Intelligence Community mission use cases. The positions support multiple IC programs in unclassified and classified environments. This is a hybrid role for candidates residing in the Northern Virginia corridor, with on-site work in SCIFs and customer facilities as needed.

The developer assists senior developers and engineers with rapid prototyping, development environment setup, secure deployment, MLOps, CI/CD and cloud integration, customer demonstrations, and technical documentation. The role prepares prototypes for transition into operational systems.

Requirements

• Reside in the Northern Virginia corridor and be able to support a hybrid work model, including remote work and on-site SCIF/customer locations as required.
• Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI access.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline and at least 2 years of relevant software or AI/ML experience; alternatively, a master’s degree in a related technical discipline with 0 or more years of relevant experience.
• Foundational proficiency in Python and core software engineering practices, such as Git-based version control, unit testing, and clean code architectures.
• Hands-on exposure to at least one major ML framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, through coursework, personal projects, internships, or professional tasks.
• Ability to commute to Northern Virginia-area SAIC and customer facilities and travel occasionally to other customer sites as required by the program.

Nice To Haves

• TS/SCI clearance; it may be required for specific program tasking.
• Familiarity with Docker and basic cloud concepts in AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience using lightweight frontend tools or frameworks, such as React, to build functional, interactive interfaces for demonstrations.
• Familiarity with Intelligence Community missions, environments, and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior developers in designing, coding, and deploying visual AI/ML prototypes, including GenAI/LLMs, NLP, and computer vision, to address IC mission needs.
• Help configure and maintain development environments and local tooling for unclassified and SCIF-based AI development.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to containerize applications and package models for deployment into secure environments.
• Assist in integrating prototypes into CI/CD pipelines and deploying them into secure, multi-tenant AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
• Prepare prototype environments for customer demonstrations.
• Keep codebases clean, well-structured, and well-commented.
• Draft technical documentation, API guides, and system diagrams to support transition of prototypes into operational systems.
