About The Position

SAIC is building an early-career AI/ML Developer team within its Solutions and Technology Group. Reporting to the Intel Space CTO, the role supports the creation, prototyping, and operationalization of AI/ML proof of concepts, including generative AI and large language models, natural language processing, and computer vision, for Intelligence Community mission use cases. The positions support multiple IC programs in unclassified and classified environments.

This is a hybrid role for candidates residing in the Northern Virginia corridor, with remote work and on-site work in SCIFs and customer facilities as needed. The work includes rapid prototype development, secure deployment and MLOps, pipeline integration, customer demonstrations, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Reside in the Northern Virginia corridor and be able to support a hybrid work model, including on-site SCIF and customer-location work as required.
• Hold an active Top Secret clearance and be able to obtain SCI access.
• Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline and at least 2 years of relevant software or AI/ML experience; or have a master's degree in a related technical discipline with 0 or more years of relevant experience.
• Have foundational proficiency in Python and core software engineering practices, such as Git-based version control, unit testing, and clean code architectures.
• Have hands-on exposure to at least one major ML framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, through coursework, personal projects, internships, or professional tasks.

Nice To Haves

• TS/SCI clearance; it is strongly preferred and may be required for specific program tasking.
• Familiarity with Docker and basic cloud concepts in AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience using lightweight frontend tools or frameworks, such as React, to build functional, interactive user interfaces for demonstrations.
• Familiarity with Intelligence Community missions, environments, and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior developers in designing, coding, and deploying visual AI/ML prototypes, including GenAI/LLMs, NLP, and computer vision, to address IC mission needs.
• Help configure and maintain development environments and local tooling for unclassified and SCIF-based AI development.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to containerize applications and package models for deployment in secure environments.
• Assist in integrating prototypes into CI/CD pipelines and deploying them into secure, multi-tenant cloud environments using AWS and/or Azure.
• Prepare prototype environments for customer demonstrations.
• Keep codebases clean, well-structured, and well-commented.
• Draft technical documentation, API guides, and system diagrams to support transition of prototypes into operational systems.
