AI Finance Operations Manager

TreadSan Francisco, CA
$140,000 - $160,000Hybrid

About The Position

Tread is an AI-native vertical SaaS platform transforming construction materials logistics. We are a Series A company backed by Mucker Capital, experiencing rapid growth and aiming to scale from $XM to $XXM+ ARR. This role is crucial for building a lean, AI-driven finance operations practice by extending existing AI workflows. The ideal candidate will own the entire revenue dollar journey, including forecasting, modeling, business operations, and some business development. This individual will establish the finance function, enhance AI agents, and create playbooks to accelerate revenue growth and profitability. We are specifically seeking individuals with investment banking or growth equity/private equity backgrounds who wish to transition from advising to operating within a company.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years in investment banking, growth equity, private equity, or a top-tier strategic finance / corporate development role.
  • Elite financial modeling and analytical skills, capable of building and defending three-statement and operating models from scratch.
  • Commercial instinct combined with financial rigor, with a desire to understand business drivers.
  • AI-native mindset, comfortable using AI tools for efficiency and eager to build a finance function around them.
  • Extreme ownership and comfort with ambiguity, willing to build organizational structure and processes.
  • Clear, executive-level communication skills, adaptable to various stakeholders.
  • A 'no task is beneath you' attitude and a bias towards shipping solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to SaaS or usage-based business models and their associated metrics.
  • Accounting fluency (close, revenue recognition) or a strong willingness to acquire it quickly.
  • Light technical skills such as SQL, spreadsheets-as-code, or hands-on experience with automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n).
  • Interest in logistics, construction tech, or hard-industry software.

Responsibilities

  • Own and build the company's operating model, budget, and rolling forecast, making it the leadership's source of truth.
  • Own key SaaS and usage-based business metrics including ARR, net revenue retention, CAC, payback, gross margin, magic number, and burn multiple, identifying critical economic levers.
  • Provide decision support by quantifying ambiguous questions related to pricing, new segments, hiring, and major deals into actionable recommendations.
  • Build board and investor materials, including the board deck, data room, and reporting packages, defending all financial figures.
  • Support fundraising efforts by partnering with the CEO on modeling, narrative, diligence, and managing the financial aspects of the process.
  • Own cash-flow forecasting, runway management, and scenario planning to ensure transparency on the company's cash position.
  • Manage the quote-to-cash workflow, ensuring ARR is live, reconciled, and trustworthy.
  • Run the operating cadence for the company, including KPI dashboards, weekly business reviews, and defining agreed-upon metrics.
  • Partner with Go-To-Market teams on compensation plans and pipeline analysis, and with product/operations on cost and margin aspects of service delivery.
  • Design the finance and operations stack with an 'automate first, hire second' philosophy, leveraging AI tools for tasks like reconciliations, variance analysis, data cleanup, and reporting.
  • Own and integrate the finance tooling stack, including billing, ERP/accounting, CRM integrations, and dashboards, to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Establish the operating standards for a modern, AI-first finance and operations function and document these in a playbook.
