About The Position

The AI Engineer - Finance is an embedded AI partner within Lineage’s Finance organization, working at the intersection of the AI platform and finance and accounting needs. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer and working directly with the broader finance team, this role identifies high-value AI use cases, builds initial solutions collaboratively when needed, and teaches Finance teams to build, run, and improve their own solutions. The goal is to improve productivity, accuracy, efficiency, and control in finance processes, with success measured by team adoption and self-sufficiency as well as solutions delivered. The role has a dotted-line relationship to a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer in Lineage’s enterprise AI Center of Excellence (CoE). The AI Engineer uses the CoE’s standards, platforms, and governance, and works with platform, solutions architecture, and data and integration teams to deliver secure, well-integrated solutions. This is a remote position. Lineage is unable to sponsor work authorization for this role, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in software engineering, applied ML/AI, or solutions engineering, with direct client- or stakeholder-facing delivery.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with modern AI/ML tooling, including LLM APIs, agent frameworks, vector databases, and RAG pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a project from an ambiguous business need to a production-grade solution with minimal oversight.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, early-stage, or consulting-style environments where scope and priorities shift frequently.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and modern data infrastructure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to business leaders and translate technical concepts.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and expectations across multiple engagements.
  • Willingness to be coached and proactively seek feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments or projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn and apply modern technologies and business concepts.
  • Ability to work within established governance frameworks and standards and handle sensitive financial data with discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Claude Enterprise, OpenAI (ChatGPT Enterprise), or similar tools.
  • A track record of shipping AI/ML use cases in enterprise environments such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, or logistics.
  • Experience building with agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen, and systematically evaluating model outputs.
  • Previous exposure to finance and accounting systems such as ERP, general ledger, consolidation, close management, and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP, the financial close process, and internal controls (SOX).

Responsibilities

  • Embed with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and opportunities for AI-driven improvement.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of finance and accounting processes, Lineage’s supply chain business, and applicable AI use cases.
  • Enable and upskill Finance team members to adopt AI tools and identify additional opportunities for AI-driven improvement.
  • Work with the Chief Accounting Officer and other finance leaders on enablement activities such as workshops, office hours, reusable guides and templates, a champion network, and hackathons.
  • Coach teams to build and own their solutions, shifting over time from building solutions for teams to building with them.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to quantify use-case value, prioritize the engagement pipeline, and measure post-deployment impact.
  • Identify quick wins and short-term solutions that can provide benefit while longer-term solutions are developed.
  • Extend AI capabilities in existing systems, including through prompts, skills, or agents as needed.
  • Scope, architect, and deliver end-to-end AI solutions, including data ingestion, prompt engineering, skill and agent development, deployment, monitoring, and iteration, when broader capabilities are required.
  • Apply software engineering and AI solution standards; use the CoE’s core AI platform and work with Platform Engineers to extend tooling and identify platform gaps.
  • Follow CoE standards for architecture, development, security, data governance, model evaluation, and responsible AI; partner with the dotted-line Senior Forward Deployed Engineer on design and code reviews, technical guidance, and enterprise AI alignment.
  • Deliver flagship finance use cases, such as month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entry support, variance analysis, and reporting, to establish repeatable delivery patterns.
  • Design solutions that support internal controls, auditability, and SOX compliance, including appropriate human review, documentation, and data access controls.
  • Help Finance quantify value and potential cost savings and track adoption and self-sufficiency metrics.
  • Partner with Solutions Architects and Data & Integration Engineers to integrate solutions with enterprise systems and finance data sources, such as ERP, consolidation, and reporting systems.
  • Document solution architectures, runbooks, and lessons learned to accelerate future engagements and enable developer enablement across the enterprise.
