About The Position

Blue Rose Research is hiring a Policy Fellow to help design an economic plan for the AI era: a concrete policy agenda for how the country should respond as AI changes jobs, wages, and the economy. The Policy Lead will own the plan’s policy substance, identify its key choice points, develop realistic options, and work through trade-offs with the research team. The role reports to the Director of External Affairs and works closely with data scientists and survey researchers. Public opinion research will inform the plan’s design, and policy options will be specific enough to test with voters. The fellow will lead development of the plan from its initial framework through final proposals; draw on research concerning automation, labor markets, the social safety net, workforce training, tax policy, and competition; and draft policy memos, option papers, and the plan itself. They will collaborate with researchers to turn policy options into testable proposals, refine the plan based on polling and message-testing results, and ensure survey questions describe policies accurately and compare alternatives fairly. The role also involves consulting economists, policy experts, former officials, and current federal and state policymakers; building and drawing on government relationships, especially in California; and briefing Blue Rose leadership and partners on the plan and supporting evidence. The position is flexible in format, with compensation depending on role, duration, and experience. The team is remote, has offices in New York City and Washington, DC, and holds regular in-person meetups. The role involves frequent in-person meetings and regular travel between San Francisco and Washington, DC; preference is for someone based in one of those cities. Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
