About The Position

Axios is hiring an AI Fellow to work directly with its co-founders and senior leaders as an in-house AI guide and builder. The three-month fellowship combines research, prototyping, experimentation, and strategic advisory work to accelerate how AI is embedded across the organization.

The fellow will track and interpret developments in large language models and emerging AI tools, prototype product ideas and internal solutions, and assess potential AI initiatives across editorial, product, revenue, and operations. The role calls for someone able to work at both technical and strategic levels, translating complex concepts into practical applications for non-technical leaders. This is a paid, full-time, temporary fellowship and is described as distinct from a traditional internship.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with large language models and generative AI tools.
• Experience building and shipping applied AI projects or prototypes.
• Familiarity with model fine-tuning, embeddings, APIs, or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving and structured-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, experiment quickly, and operate at both technical and strategic levels.

Responsibilities
