Latch builds scientific benchmarks for AI agents across biology and works with frontier labs and pharmaceutical companies to evaluate agents on real biological workflows. The AI Biologist will join the Immunology team and serve as a scientific authority on ground truth, evaluating whether AI agents reason accurately about immune biology and vaccine development. The role involves working with scientists and engineers to build benchmark tasks and datasets, and setting standards for defensible agent outputs. The role translates immunology workflows into tasks with clear answers, writes gold-standard responses from raw data while accounting for donor, assay, and gating variability, and curates datasets spanning flow and spectral cytometry, single-cell and CITE-seq, TCR/BCR repertoires, cytokine panels, serology and neutralization titers, and ELISpot. The AI Biologist tests agents’ ability to distinguish biological findings from artifacts and to make nuanced interpretations, evaluates conclusions against expert standards, identifies reasoning failures and relevant evidence, and rewards appropriately expressed uncertainty. The position is full-time for US-based employees and contractor-based outside the US. Fully remote work is acceptable, though onsite work is preferred at Latch’s Mission Bay waterfront office in San Francisco. The company describes opportunities to advance through individual-contributor levels or move into pod management after a first promotion.
