About The Position

Latch builds rigorous scientific benchmarks for AI agents across biology and works with frontier labs and pharmaceutical companies to evaluate whether agents can handle real biological workflows. The AI Biologist will join the Immunology team and contribute to the technical approach for evaluating how AI agents reason about immunology. Working with software engineers and computational biologists, the role involves building ground-truth benchmark datasets drawn from published studies, the employee’s experience, and novel work. These datasets will test whether agents can perform critical analytical and interpretive steps carried out by expert immunologists.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on research experience in relevant domains, with impact demonstrated through publications or industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R for biological data analysis and visualization, or expert-level experience in experimental or methods design.
  • Deep experience in at least one immunology area, such as basic immune cell biology, immune signaling, vaccine development, autoimmunity, cancer immunology, infectious disease/host defense, inflammation, immune cell therapies, or another immunology subdomain.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience designing or troubleshooting immunology experiments, including flow or mass cytometry, multiomics, functional assays, or disease models.
  • Strong existing opinions on where agents and LLMs fail in immunology.
  • Experience using agentic coding systems.

Responsibilities

  • Help build the Immunology team and contribute to its technical approach for evaluating AI-agent reasoning in immunology.
  • Build ground-truth benchmark datasets using studies, personal research experience, and novel work.
  • Design benchmarks that rigorously test the analytical and interpretive steps performed by expert immunologists.
  • Work with software engineers and computational biologists.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage are 100% covered for the employee and 50% covered for dependents in the US.
  • 401(k) plan with no match.
  • 12 days of PTO to start, with more as the employee is promoted.
  • Four-week ramp paid at full OTE.
  • Full OTE pay when quota cannot fairly apply, such as when a new project is starting, the platform is down, or the employee is assigned a special project.
  • Monthly advance of 60% of OTE for contractors outside the US; the advance is never clawed back.
  • Company outings most months, team off-sites, and a community with varied activities.
